Full-Time Grade 6 Math and Science Teacher

We are seeking a full-time Grade 6 Math and Science teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The instructor will be responsible for implementing curriculum and assessments in collaboration with the Math and Science departments. We welcome applicants who have a strong commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community, as well as those with a similar commitment to including varying perspectives among the course materials. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of successful experience teaching a conceptual understanding of mathematical content while also helping students develop strong skill sets. Our sixth grade Science curriculum follows a life science curriculum that takes advantage of our 93 acre, mixed habitat campus. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching cell and molecular biology, anatomy, and ecology to middle school age students and have considerable experience promoting an experiential learning environment. A 4-year degree is required.

A love for working with students, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative and close-knit teaching environment are a must. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience with the College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) Curriculum and/or Life Science.

In addition to teaching their classes, the instructor will be available to students for individual help outside of class as needed, share in the sponsorship of student activities, participate in faculty committees and meetings, serve as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 students, and perform other duties as determined by the Director of the Middle School.
