Position Summary:

The Assistant Clinical Director assists in the responsibility for management, organization, application, and implementation of the different facility treatment programs and provides supervision to patient care service staff as assigned by Clinical Director.

Responsibilities:

  • In the absence of the Clinical Director will assume administrative responsibility for the Clinical Department.
  • Serves as a leader to the clinical and program teams by providing support, guidance and information.
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements and communicates to staff to ensure their understanding of these requirements.
  • Develops goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the organization that are consistent with the company’s mission.
  • Provides reports as required to Administration and regulatory entities.
  • Assures that psycho-social assessment, individual, family, specialized and group therapy is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and modalities recognized and accepted by the behavioral health field.
  • Drives process with therapists of creating and following an individualized treatment plan per patient.
  • Participates in reviewing and modifying existing programs using feedback received from clinical and nursing staff, patients, referral sources and other involved entities to improve service effectiveness, availability and delivery.
  • Actively participates in the implementation of Performance improvement activities; provides reports as requested, identifies important aspects of care, supervises collection, organization and evaluation of data to improve organizational quality care.
  • Ensures the program operates in compliance with the laws and regulations of federal, state and local agencies, the standards, rules and regulations of various accrediting and approval agencies, including Joint Commission and according to current narrative/schedule, admission/discharge criteria and all other applicable policies, procedures and plans.
  • Respond to complaints from patient, family member or staff regarding clinical services, or delegates this responsibility to the appropriate clinical staff person in accordance with the patient's confidentiality/rights.
  • Within scope of certification issued by the Board of Behavioral Health Examiners will provide clinical supervision to non-licensed and non-independently licensed therapist.

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science or related field.
  • California Clinical License in good standing or ability to obtain within 90 days post employment. California Psychology License accepted in lieu of California Clinical License.
  • Certification by the State to provide clinical supervision preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Prefer two year management experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Communicate with other staff in relaying concerns and observations involving patient safety.
  • Occasional/limited exposure to: Infection and to the risk of blood-borne diseases; hazardous agents, body fluids and wastes; unpleasant patient or departmental elements; to potentially violent/aggressive patients/staff/visitors, critical incidents, and/or sentinel events.
