Intro/Program Description: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.

Purpose of Position: Responsible for packing over 300 meals daily and labeling bags appropriately. Delivering a daily meal to all clients on their assigned route. In addition, the deliverer will provide basic visual monitoring of their clients and report any significant changes to their direct supervisor for follow-up.

Schedule: 32 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $18.00

Goddard Riverside and Isaacs Center follow the CDC and NYS recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and are now requiring all new hires to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a qualified exemption.

• Works with the kitchen team to pack and label finished meals for the food and nutrition delivery team.

• Pick-up and drop-off delivery staff on the designated route.

• Observe client and their surrounding area; report concerns as needed.

• Keeps vehicles clean and in good operating condition

• Inspects vehicles daily and reports any operational or structural defects and reports immediately.

• Reviews vehicle documentation to ensure inspections, registration and insurance information is up to date.

• Maintains accurate daily log of meal deliveries and contributions collected.

• Assists in scheduling meal deliveries to minimize time and distance between delivery.

• Keeps daily gasoline and mileage records.

• Pick-up and return vehicle to the garage or parking place daily.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or HSE is preferred.

• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the agency’s auto insurance guidelines (including at least one year as a licensed driver and no suspensions within the last 3 years).

• 2 or more years of driving experience in NYC or high-traffic areas.

• Demonstrated sensitivity to the aging population.

• Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Able to work independently and in a team environment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Able to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas Day.
