DispatchHealth is actively hiring Medical Technicians to join our growing clinical team servicing the Little Rock, Arkansas area. This is a new market, opening in January of 2023. This is a dual role working both as a Medical Assistant and as a Laboratory Technician.

We are looking for energetic, hard-working individuals with strong organizational and customer service skills to work directly with our Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants in our CLIA certified (mobile) laboratory. This individual will be directly involved in daily patient care while gaining valuable experience on an ongoing basis. Extensive on the job training will be provided for this exciting opportunity in mobile healthcare. Current EMT certification is required as a hiring credential for this position in DispatchHealth as a medical practice (non-Emergency Medical Services) organization delivering care in patient homes.
The Laboratory Technician will support the clinical delivery team by performing standard laboratory office function and maintaining medical office coordination.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities (Medical Technician)
  • Work under supervision of licensed NP/PA providers
  • Patient assessment and monitoring, vital signs
  • IV starts and blood draws (as permitted by state law)
  • Splint application
  • Wound care
  • Work directly with point of care laboratory equipment including operation, calibration, and maintenance
  • Perform EKGs
  • Assist NP/PAs in the daily functions of a mobile care delivery emergency unit
  • Documentation
  • Supply and stocking
Responsibilities (Lab)
  • Train APPs and DHMTs for all lab tests performed in the market
  • Update all clinical staff of lab changes- and teach during DHMT meetings
  • Create and maintain all lab manuals for rovers
  • QC all Lab supplies
  • Run Weekly i-STAT simulators
  • Maintain all temperature logs
  • Work closely with National and Regional Point of Care Coordinators and Lab Directors with any lab issues
  • Self-Audit and inspection of the lab
  • Enter and maintain all expiration dates for all supplies
  • Manage Kit Versioning when a new version is available
  • Take calls from the field to help problem solve lab questions and temperature deviations
  • Update i-STAT QC reference ranges as needed
  • Maintain all test kits
  • Ensure that "cheat sheets" are in every kit for every test
  • Assist in Proficiency Testing coordination
  • Participate on the lab conference call every 1st Friday of every month
  • Work directly with point-of-care laboratory equipment, including operation, calibration and maintenance

What You Need:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (Arkansas Cert. or NREMT)
  • Good IV skills or willingness to learn
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • BLS, American Heart Association
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs easily while carrying equipment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Eager and willing to add to their knowledge base and skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Technical competency
  • Experience or education in a laboratory
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Laboratory Training (MLA, MLT or MLS desirable)
  • 2 years’ experience managing medical offices laboratory preferred
  • Highly organized and task oriented
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to adapt to new computer systems quickly
  • Effective time management skills, especially pertaining to QC and Competency timing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This person will need to work cooperatively, positively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
