The Clinical Equipment Specialist is responsible for maintaining and overseeing repairs and replacement of all PT/OT clinical equipment; and working directly with therapist to obtain, fit, modify and maintain any equipment needed during the inpatient rehabilitation process.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance activities, including but not limited to ongoing upkeep, inspection, overseeing the completion of repairs, and clinical accuracy checks as well as procurement of replacement parts for the OT/PT departments.
  • Work with inpatient therapist to fit, adapt and modify wheelchair in the inpatient fleet to meet patient needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors to secure loaner or demonstration equipment, to replace worn equipment within the fleet, and assist with equipment purchases.
  • Maintain equipment database and manage equipment storage at 707/801.
  • Maintain demo equipment inventory for all clinical equipment but not limited to wheelchairs, cushions, backs and other seating assessment items.
  • Assist with any research and development projects related to equipment under the direction of department directors.
  • Assist with training identified Rehabilitation Aides and Technicians regarding clinical equipment, mobility devices and seating and positioning accessories.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by KKI.
    • Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification preferred.
  • Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification preferred.


EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree (preferably in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology) or comprehensive technical training from the military is required.
  • Training and expertise within rehabilitation along with technical trade background in at least one of the following: carpentry, engineering, mechanics and/or electrical.
  • Must obtain continuing education provided by pertinent medical device manufacturers.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of two years professional experience in a rehabilitation program as a rehabilitation equipment technician or equivalent job description.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in adaption, modifying or creating of seating and positioning device for patients with disabilities.
  • Proficiency with MS office suite including MS Word, and other related computer programs.
