Modern Workplace Sr. System Engineer
Position Summary
The Modern Workplace Sr. System Engineer is part of a distributed team that delivers innovative technology (hardware, software, and services) with a validated focus on user experience. The team is a component of AES’s Digital Workplace Experience organization. The Modern Workplace Sr. System Engineer role within our Digital Workplace Experience team, plays a key role in both the definition and delivery of the technologies that support end user computing services within AES. This spans device management systems, end user hardware and printers, which come together to provide a truly excellent user experience balanced with consistency, supportability, and data security. This role is responsible for endpoint configuration management including PC’s, tablets, and phones. This position plays an active role in application deployment, client virtualization, development of processes and procedures and printer management.
Responsibilities
Possess technical understanding of the suite of products used at AES to lead end user computing endpoints running Windows, macOS, iOS and Android operating systems, including:
- Microsoft Endpoint Manager Intune & Configuration Manager
- Mobile Device Management of iOS and Android
- Microsoft Defender
- Microsoft BitLocker
- Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
- Windows Autopilot
- Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
- Supports the build, test, and deployment plans for the standard core software, SCCM OSD Image(s), application packaging, as well as the image creation process.
- Responsible for the resolution of end user computing related incidents, requests, and changes, ensuring a high standard of execution and ownership
- In collaboration with other digital team members and our users, undertake investigations and diagnose performance and service-related issues, ensuring that key partners are kept advised
- Follow standard end user computing administration and management processes and guidelines with a high degree of quality and reliability
- Work hand in hand with the AES Cyber Security teams to remediate client-side vulnerabilities and audit findings on client-side devices
- Responsible for desktop application deployment applying AES’ suite of products such as Intune and SCCM
- Coordinate and complete application implementations and updates
- Provides tier 3 support for all services supported by Desktop System Engineering
- Automate and script manual installation and maintenance task to provide a streamlined user experience for AES employees
- Develop and maintain user documentation for processes and procedures related to the deployment and management of applications and endpoint devices.
Education / Experience (Required)
Bachelor’s Degree (Information Technology / Computer Science/Engineering) preferred or equivalent of seven years work experience required.
3+ years technical experience to include excellent proven understanding of:
- Image creation with Microsoft System Center Configuration
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Microsoft Intune
- Application packaging and deployment
- Windows 10 including Active Directory, Group Policy, Users, Security Groups
- SQL Reporting, PowerShell, or other scripting languages
Additional Qualifications
- Excellent solid grasp of all major manufacturing hardware (Dell, Lenovo etc.)
- Teammate with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong business acuity and ability to understand the larger company strategy
- Ability to work well under pressure, work multiple tasks simultaneously and meet project deadlines
- Flexibility to work occasionally during off-hrs. and over the weekend
- Track record of using quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize decision-making
- Strong technical and ITIL service management background
- Lean practitioner certifications or training, as well as applicable experience in Continuous Improvement
