Position Overview
COS Mold Attendant is responsible for the upkeep and rebuild of molds, pumps, heat platens, jig boxes, grippers and any other tooling in the manufacturing plant.

Areas of Focus
COS Mold Operator will perform minor machine/mold maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning molds or adjusting mold pins or post inserts. COS Mold Operator participates in the removal of mold or tooling from the machine and performs mold and inspections daily/weekly.

Responsibilities
  • COS Mold Operator will utilize calipers and depth gauges accurately to measure mold dimensions, mold parts and molded part dimensions
  • Utilize hand tools as well as machine shop tools to include drill press, lathe, grinder and upright mill to drill holes, mill out parts, turn down shafts, smooth burrs and perform general metal working tasks
  • Inspect parts for defects and measure parts to determine accuracy of machine operation, using rules, templates, calipers, voltage meter or other measuring instruments
  • Participate in the removal of mold or tooling from the machine
  • Complete daily work orders and record PM’s into Plex
  • Identify worn parts and use PC stored manuals to locate and place orders for parts
  • Change worn mold accessories, such as thermocouples, heaters or mold pins using the proper hand tools and perform rebuilds on pumps and other accessories
  • Troubleshoot issues with mold or parts of a mold to identify problems and provide possible solutions
  • Perform repairs to molds and other tooling as necessary
  • Instruct other workers in mold/tooling set-up and operation
  • Maintain and ensure all tooling is in good working order and perform shop cleanup and tool cleaning
  • Mechanically inclined, find common causes for mold and tooling problems as well as implementing solutions to problems
  • Manage time to complete rebuilds and PM’s in an efficient manner
  • Use of calipers and depth gauges accurately
  • Use hand tools as well as machine shop tools to include drill press, lathe, grinder, press and upright mill
  • Continuous improvement
  • Follow and maintain Lean activities (5S, housekeeping, hygiene, etc)

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to three years’ experience in mechanical maintenance and manufacturing environment
  • Experience related to tooling or mold handling
  • Bilingual Spanish helpful
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word) and I-Maintenance software
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Successfully read/follow blueprints and schematics
