Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting nursing staff in providing nursing care. They also will be responsible for performing clerical duties such as entering orders and obtaining lab results from the computer, performing EKG's, as well as posting unit charges. They will also act as a phone receptionist. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable disease. The majority of time is spent standing walking and bending with frequent lifting and pushing of patients in wheelchairs and stretchers with a knowledge of body mechanics to facilitate moving patients through the hospital. They need the ability to use departmental equipment, have appropriate communication skills, assist with housekeeping duties, and assist in preparation and maintenance of the unit.
Licenses/Certifications Required
CPR certification
Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required
High School diploma, completion of unit orientation and skill list, ability to follow written and verbal instructions. This position is required to order, receive, store and re-stock hypodermic and other treatment needles, IV and irrigation solutions.
