To enhance public safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Department of Corrections staff and supervisee by meeting re-entry objectives and by providing effective security, programming, custody and control of adult male supervisee in a maximum security major facility.

Monitors the grievance procedure in its entirety (informal complaints, emergency grievances, and regular grievances) to ensure compliance with DOC policy. Conducts investigations of inmate grievances. Consults with staff and supervisee to resolve problems/issues and to investigate claims. Coordinates access to the Law Library and the Institutional Attorney. Meets with offenders as needed. Prepares responses for correspondence as required by the Operations Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Considerable knowledge of VADOC operations, policies and procedures. Some knowledge of federal and state laws governing rights for the incarcerated. Ability to conduct interviews, research and investigations and present findings clearly and accurately; to read and analyze data; and to provide guidance and consultation to supervisees needing assistance. Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations; to maintain harmonious working and public relations; to learn new practices, procedures, and equipment operations. Demonstrated ability to organize and complete work assignments with minimal guidance from others; to understand and apply operating procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer graduation from an accredited college/university with a major in Criminal Justice, Social Science or related field or a combination of training and experience related to the position. Prefer experience in a corrections facility providing direct contact with supervisee. Prefer knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access programs.

Special Requirements
