The Beaver Island Boat Company is looking for someone to join our crew, but not just anyone. This is a great opportunity for someone who is comfortable and personable in working with the public and is able to effectively represent and Market the Beaver Island Boat Company. A “self-starter” interested in the self-satisfaction derived from successfully carrying out your responsibilities in a small company with a family type feel. The Social Media and Marketing environment is continually changing and we need someone to help us navigate this ever changing environment. About 30-35% of the this position is Marketing while the other 60% to 65% is General Administrative task and direct customer service interaction. Qualifications:
- Basic business knowledge; understanding concepts of responsibility, authority and accountability; as well as vendor relationships; profitability; and business ethics a must.
- Excellent communication skills to include: written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and function in a fast pace office.
- A solid, basic understanding of the principles involved with sales promotion, and public relations.
- Associate degree in marketing or business related field preferred.
- Prior work in accounting a plus.
Responsibilities:
Marketing to include:
- Brochure design & distribution
- Social networking maintenance & design
- Internet correspondence and inquiries
- Web site design & maintenance
- Radio and print advertising
- Boat photo advertisements
- Kiosk updating
- Research events/entertainment for the boat
- Press releases
Group Tour and excursions:
- Cold call/contact Tour coordinators to market/promote our island tours
- Point of contact for group tours and excursions
- Schedule/coordinate group tours
- Schedule/coordinate excursions
Statistics
- Maintain passenger & vehicle statistics
- Maintain tour statistics
Concessions
- Meet with vendors to select merchandise
- Price and display merchandise
- Maintain Inventory supply levels
Additional Duties:
- Answer phones as needed
- Take reservations for vehicles as needed
- Check in passengers and vehicles as needed
- Attend community events (i.e. Chamber of Commerce, etc.) as needed
- Active member in community committees
- Internal communication of events, groups and news items
- Donation requests
- Reservation database maintenance
- Build and maintain community (Beaver Island and Charlevoix) relationships and partnerships
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
