Job Overview/Expectations
This position focuses on mentoring, training teachers, and planning monthly events and activities for the center. Activities include enrichment classes, special events, field trips etc. The office assistant also assists in promotion and publicity of our school programs development and distribution of flyers. While on the floor the assistanwill be responsible for conducting side by side trainings with staff, cooking and completing daily office paperwork.
Job description
- Analyzing staff training needs,gathering appropriate resources, and developing an appropriate plan to facilitate their growth
- Track, plan, and evaluate the effectiveness of side by side training/mentoring sessions
- Develop Master Lessons (these are both an opportunity for staff training and a value added learning opportunity for the children) to be offered in each class once a week.
- Approve and ensure all classrooms are set up weekly according to Texas Rising Star Policies and Standards.
- Supervise teachers, instructing, modeling, and demonstrating appropriate developmental practices as described by the Texas School Ready and Texas Rising Star program.
- Assist the Director with assessment preparation and implementation of systems and procedures necessary to meet the high standards of all assessments.
- Recommend purchase of instructional materials and teaching aids such as books, toys, and materials designed to stimulate learning.
- Ensuring portfolios are completed for Pre-K students that includes, sample work, Kindergarten Assessments (which need to be completed twice per year, September and late April), developmental checklists, and anything necessary for documentation of early learning standards.
- Provide appropriate ongoing learning opportunities for staff and volunteers by planning and implementing activities in the preschool, creating training workshops, and assisting with staff meetings.
- Provide Orientation for all new hires.
- Participate in staff evaluations and goal setting.
- Assist the Director with tours of the program when Director is unavailable.
- Approve and ensure lesson plans are developmentally appropriate, hold teachers accountable for prepping and ensuring lesson plans are turned in on time.
- Provide monthly newsletters for parents.
- Be creative and plan holiday and other major events for the center.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
