UAII was established in 1974 on the streets of skid row, Downtown L.A. by two empowered American Indian women, Babba Cooper (Lakota) and Marian Zucco (Paiute), who wanted to serve the most impoverished community who lacked resources and access to services. Starting with 2 employees and a $150,000 annual budget on one floor of a three-level building that is one of the oldest in LA, they quickly doubled in size operating with 4 employees and a $300,000 budget over all three floors at our original 118 Winston Street location. Now, we employ over 120 team members, working in 6 departments to improve the overall well-being of our American Indian community members in LA and OC. We offer different behavioral and mental health services, job placement services, medical clinic services, after-school youth programs, and coming soon are housing and dental services. Job position description:
We’re looking for a full-time entry to intermediate-level Outreach Coordinator. The ideal candidate is someone who’s looking for some quality career and professional experience. The hourly rate starts at $24.04 per hour. There is opportunity for advancement, discretionary bonuses, and a retirement plan with employer matching. Minimal remote work is possible. This position will average 40 hours per week and work with a very fast-paced, close-knit team.

Main duties & responsibilities:
  • Determine eligibility to enroll in the Workforce Development Department programs or UAII services
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Assist to identify outreach activities, events or locations to conduct educational sharing and community resources
  • Develop and execute ongoing strategic plan to recruit and onboard new clients into programs and make referrals to other organizations
  • Create and participate in workshops and events to promote the Workforce programs

Location:
UAII’s headquarter office is located right outside of Downtown LA, filled with diversity, history, and of course, great food. This position will report to our Santa Ana office, specifically working with the Workforce department.

Job Requirements:
  • Have three years of related work experience in outreach, workforce development and knowledge of area job market and resources
  • Eligibility to work in the US
  • Fingerprint clearance
  • Annual negative TB test result on file
  • Pass post-offer drug test
  • Maintain a valid CA license and auto insurance if driving for the role
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
  • Bachelors degree or higher can be substituted for equivalent work experience
