POSITION SUMMARY:
This Milwaukee based position is responsible for various duties that support fine dining and related events on Charter Manufacturing’s private railcars. This high-touch customer service position includes serving meals, bartending, assisting guests, cleaning, and helping with other railcar operations-related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three years working as a wait staff server or related role in a fine dining establishment.
• Ability to travel away from home for 1 to 2 weeks at a time, as needed for seasonal railcar trips.
• Ability to work irregular hours as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a customer service focus, and a professional approach to serving and assisting guests.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and efficiency
• Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to assist with all tasks as assigned, including cleaning the interior and exterior of the railcars, organizing, and assisting with other railcar operation needs.
• Safety-focused and willing to become first aid/CPR certified

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking and must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds periodically.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Requires rigorous activity, grasping, writing, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods, walking, bending, stretching, repetitive motions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diverse experience in the restaurant or related service industry – food service, banquets, special events.
• Prior bartending experience and the ability to purchase/serve alcohol.
• Knowledge of serving various sized groups and multi-course meals.
• Mechanical aptitude and previous experience working in a mechanical capacity (mechanical-based repairs, skilled trades, etc.)

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to the Railcar Operations Manager
• Receives direction from Railcar Crew Chief and Railcar Chef
• Works together with other Assistants of the team

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assists with guest arrivals and departure
• Helps to prepare and set up for guest events
• Serving multi-course dinners and related events for guests in various sized groups
• Bartending/serving wine
• Maintaining excellent customer service standards in both serving and guest interactions
• Periodic support of off-site catering events
• Assisting with other railcar duties as needed such as cleaning, helping with mechanical tasks, food prep, or related duties
• Adheres to safety and security guidelines, follows emergency and accident procedures, responds promptly, and is familiar with the use of a fire extinguisher, AED (Defibrillator), and is CPR certified.
• Follow Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
• Ability to meet the essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as outlined in the job description.
