Summary of Position:
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System is seeking a BC/BE Surgical Pathologist to join its dynamic faculty.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology in an environment that has provided the opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of gross and microscopic examination of resected surgical specimens, as well as biopsies. Candidates with niche interest in Breast, Head & Neck or related areas is desirable. Qualified candidate who can contribute through their research, teaching and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic mission of the department are also preferable.

The Department of Pathology receives over 19,000 surgical specimens, (excluding nearly 7,000 oral specimens), 3500 cytology specimens, 100 autopsies, and performs over 2.2 million laboratory tests in a typical year. Special diagnostic testing includes immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, advanced molecular diagnostics, electron microscopy, and whole slide imaging. Modern research laboratories are equipped for tissue culture, real-time PCR, techniques for advanced protein detection, laser confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular biology.

Candidate Qualifications
  • Applicants should be an M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent with board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic Pathology.
  • Candidates who are board-eligible will be expected to complete their boards within the first year of hire.
  • Completion of a fellowship in a niche area is desirable.
  • Must be able to obtain medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date.
