Payroll Specialist
Full time/Non-exempt/Great Falls
Duties:
- Reviews payroll documents for accuracy and completion and prepares Many Rivers and MAPCO payroll and all related payroll reports.
- Prepares Many Rivers payroll by the Friday before payroll week and MAPCO payroll by the 4th & 19th of each month.
- Maintains records for payroll, workman’s compensation, safety reports (OSHA form 300A), Leave balances, Labor and Industry reports, union dues and all other deductions.
- Prepare all tax, quarterly unemployment reports and W-2’s for MAPCO employees. ADP calculates Many Rivers employee. Prepares all documents, including First Report for employee injury report, and gathers information for worker’s compensation audit.
- Maintains spreadsheets on all disbursements (HSA, Flexible Spending, Insurance premiums, HFOO, or PEERS) per payroll and requests payments from accounts payable and to pay online.
- Computes employee garnishments: ADP does the Many Rivers. Payroll Specialist pays MAPCO’s.
- Operates computer for data entry as required. Participates in new hire orientation for payroll.
- Completes bank employee verification forms as needed.
- Knowledge of ADP, QuickBooks, and Excel Spreadsheets.
- Must have a valid MT driver’s license, valid vehicle insurance and personal vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications: * The Payroll position must have knowledge of standardized payroll/personnel rules, regulations, and procedures, such as payroll accounting, State pay rules and regulations, Union rules and regulations and both State and Union employee benefits and have the ability to apply them to procedural assignments of a complex nature. The position has responsibility for full payroll and payroll-related personnel duties for Many Rivers and MAPCO employees. The ability to add and compute figures; to interpret and apply rules and regulations; to maintain records and files; to follow written and verbal instructions; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees is also required.

Education & Experience: * The minimum knowledge, skills and abilities typically required to perform the work are obtained through a combination of education and experience. Graduation from a college or university with an associate degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping and 2 years of experience processing payroll for at least 300 employees or 4 years of experience is required. Knowledge in ADP, Excel, and QuickBooks is required. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
