About the Permanent Substitute Role: The Permanent Substitute is a role that will substitute for our KIPP Colorado teachers at their school in the case of absences, leave, or other classroom vacancy situations. When not subbing in a classroom, the Permanent Substitute may be supporting the school with providing coverage at lunch duty, hall duty, or arrival and dismissal. A Permanent Substitute, unlike a Lead Teacher, will only have the direct responsibility of managing the learning and culture of the classroom or the requirement of planning lesson plans or grading when they are in a long term coverage position. The permanent substitute may be assigned to cover any classroom in the building and it is likely that teaching assignments will change daily.

Instructional Delivery

  • Substitute as needed or required by day to day building needs.
  • Deliver daily lesson plans using provided lesson plans.
  • Support with students meeting daily objectives.
  • Leave notes and updates for regular classroom teacher.
  • In the event of long term coverage, temporarily assume planning and grading responsibility

  • Communicate regularly with teachers and leadership.

  • Participate in daily duties (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dismissal) to support school operations.
  • Maintain accurate records, for student attendance.
  • Assist with both student and staff recruitment.

About Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching, substitute teaching, and/or childcare (ages 5-18) experience (preferred)
  • Spanish language skills (preferred)
  • A full understanding and Commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience (more about that HERE) (required)
  • Strong orientation towards flexibility
  • Ability to work during after-school, evening, and weekend meetings and events at the school
  • Commitment to and experience with youth of various cultural and lower economic background

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive Market Salary: The set salary for this role is $45,000 (this is not negotiable or based on experience).
