POSITION SUMMARY
This Physical Security Consultant will be a trusted member of a team responsible for supporting our government and commercial sector clients in assessing, recommending, and implementing security approaches. This position will require a well-rounded physical and operational security background and will include some level of technical expertise and project management skills. The ability to work as part of a coordinated team is critical, as well as being a self-starter. This is a mid- to senior-level position with growth potential.
The ideal candidate will be able to report to TRC offices in the Northeast or West Coast but other TRC office locations in the Mid-Atlantic or Gulf Coast may be considered. This position will require working remotely (from home) as well as periodically from a TRC office and will involve occasional travel for client projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Conduct security assessments and develop security master plans, policies, and procedures in collaboration with other team members and clients
- Develop security designs to enhance access controls, and situational awareness
- Work with law enforcement agencies (local, county, state, federal) as required
- Assess man-made threat and natural hazard data
- Utilize multiple assessment tools and methodologies
- Synthesize data from multiple sources and deliver sound recommendations for clients' needs
- Author reports, technical memos, and other deliverables
- Develop presentations and deliver training content at client locations
- Interact with a diverse set of clients including government agency personnel, public officials, business, and nonprofit staff
- Travel throughout the U.S. (travel estimated at 10-20% of the year)
- Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. An inquisitive tendency, as well as the interest in protecting people and facilities from harm are also important qualities.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in security or emergency management, systems engineering, international relations, homeland security or similar
- Five or more years of related experience
- Self-motivated
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Experience with electronic security system platforms/technologies (video, access controls, etc.)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger team to support business objectives
- Work closely with government emergency management, law enforcement and security agencies
- Ability to travel periodically to meet client and project needs
- Ability to work in commercial and industrial settings and follow strict safety protocols
- Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to pass multiple detailed background checks (including criminal history) and drug screening
- U.S. Citizen, with current driver's license and ability to travel by air, bus, train, etc.
- Proficiency with standard MS Office tools/software, remote meeting technology, laptop computers, and/or related tools
- The ability to occasionally walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, often in outdoor environments
- Basic business acumen and the ability to understand and support client relationships
- Good professional judgement and strong ethical foundation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) via ASIS International, or as a Certified Security Consultant (CSC) via International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC)
- Bi-or multi-lingual skills are a plus
- Master's degree is a plus.
- Certifications such as CPTED, CBCP or in other related areas are a plus.
- Knowledge of BPATS, ISC and FEMA assessment methodologies helpful.
- Knowledge of various security requirements for various sectors of critical infrastructure are valued.
- Systems training by security manufacturers is also a plus
