POSITION SUMMARY

This Physical Security Consultant will be a trusted member of a team responsible for supporting our government and commercial sector clients in assessing, recommending, and implementing security approaches. This position will require a well-rounded physical and operational security background and will include some level of technical expertise and project management skills. The ability to work as part of a coordinated team is critical, as well as being a self-starter. This is a mid- to senior-level position with growth potential.

The ideal candidate will be able to report to TRC offices in the Northeast or West Coast but other TRC office locations in the Mid-Atlantic or Gulf Coast may be considered. This position will require working remotely (from home) as well as periodically from a TRC office and will involve occasional travel for client projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Conduct security assessments and develop security master plans, policies, and procedures in collaboration with other team members and clients
  • Develop security designs to enhance access controls, and situational awareness
  • Work with law enforcement agencies (local, county, state, federal) as required
  • Assess man-made threat and natural hazard data
  • Utilize multiple assessment tools and methodologies
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources and deliver sound recommendations for clients' needs
  • Author reports, technical memos, and other deliverables
  • Develop presentations and deliver training content at client locations
  • Interact with a diverse set of clients including government agency personnel, public officials, business, and nonprofit staff
  • Travel throughout the U.S. (travel estimated at 10-20% of the year)
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. An inquisitive tendency, as well as the interest in protecting people and facilities from harm are also important qualities.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in security or emergency management, systems engineering, international relations, homeland security or similar
  • Five or more years of related experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Experience with electronic security system platforms/technologies (video, access controls, etc.)
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger team to support business objectives
  • Work closely with government emergency management, law enforcement and security agencies
  • Ability to travel periodically to meet client and project needs
  • Ability to work in commercial and industrial settings and follow strict safety protocols
  • Fluent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to pass multiple detailed background checks (including criminal history) and drug screening
  • U.S. Citizen, with current driver's license and ability to travel by air, bus, train, etc.
  • Proficiency with standard MS Office tools/software, remote meeting technology, laptop computers, and/or related tools
  • The ability to occasionally walk and/or stand for extended periods of time, often in outdoor environments
  • Basic business acumen and the ability to understand and support client relationships
  • Good professional judgement and strong ethical foundation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) via ASIS International, or as a Certified Security Consultant (CSC) via International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC)
  • Bi-or multi-lingual skills are a plus
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CPTED, CBCP or in other related areas are a plus.
  • Knowledge of BPATS, ISC and FEMA assessment methodologies helpful.
  • Knowledge of various security requirements for various sectors of critical infrastructure are valued.
  • Systems training by security manufacturers is also a plus
