Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company, a leading supplier to the iron and steel industry, is currently seeking a Plant Manager in Berkeley, South Carolina. The Plant Manager will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager. The role collaborates with company leaders and sales team to set strategy, define targets, and drive operational performance to meet organizational goals. The Plant Manager will be responsible for the safety, coordination, performance, and evaluation of all production.

Responsibilities/skills required include:

• Recruit, hire and train operators.
• Create and maintain daily, weekly and/or monthly schedules and reports as well as maintain payroll and the performance of employees
• Coordinate shipping and receiving schedules.
• Provide preventative maintenance on equipment: replacing parts, belts, etc. and develop preventative maintenance programs.
• Develop relationships with local vendors and suppliers.
• Oversee quality and quantity of production for facility.
• Operate Computer Controls; PLC and/or computer guided equipment.
• Operate Forklift, Skid Steer and Front-End Loader.
• Implement environmental policies and practices for Storm Water and Air Permits pertaining to the plant site.
• Assess, analyze, and collate environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients, and regulatory bodies
• Manage repair and new equipment installation projects.
• Develop and maintain product quality and testingprocedures.
• Maintain safe operations and processes for the plant; able to write safe job procedures.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of operations leadership experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Business Management discipline preferred. Equivalent balance of experience and education will be considered.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting background.
• Commitment to safety and safe operating practices is essential.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with good manufacturing practices and quality initiatives/programs.
• Ability to develop, foster, and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
• Demonstrated LEAN manufacturing skills.

Additional requirements include:

• Must have a valid driver's license, experience driving tractor-trailer desired, but not required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and move 100 lbs.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and when requested. Drug screens include hair follicle and urinalysis testing.
