Seeking candidates for a rewarding career opportunity to support the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. We seek a Power Distribution Engineer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will provide support to Cognizant System Engineers (CSE) by validating as-found physical plant configuration compared to design drawings. This position will eventually complete requisite training to become a qualified CSE in appropriate areas as designated by engineering management. Provide real time support to plant modifications to ensure accuracy to design drawings and other Technical Baseline documents. Perform as-built field verifications of selected structures, systems, components and drawings that depict the actual plant conditions. Become the technical expert in their respective structures, systems, and components and assist the Design Engineering group in development of Engineering Change Orders.

Exempt Salary Grade (28)

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or
• Associate Degree with four (4) years of experience in systems control and systems integration is required.
• Due to the nature of work, all candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Requirements:

• Familiarity with field instrumentation, networking experience including Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Device Net, electrical power and distribution systems is preferred.
• Ability to work with various operational organizations, such as Maintenance, Work Control, Waste Handling, Facility Operations, etc. to achieve positive engineering outcomes on facility modifications.
