Position Summary
The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Preventative Maintenance (Plumbing) position. This is an entry level position in a mechanical role. Perform basic preventive maintenance to facilities and building systems and assists Plumber with completing repairs.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Minimum Required Experience
One to two (1-2) years experience in preventive maintenance preferred,.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
Valid Mississippi Driver’s License.
Qualifications
General working knowledge of maintenance type plumbing and general maintenance repairs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to bend, stand, stoop, crawl, or smell and access small areas as needed.
- Ability to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions throughout the year.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates hand and power tools associated with the plumbing trade.
- Repair/replace general plumbing equipment, water heaters, pumps, etc.
- Repair work on clogged sewer lines and sanitary plumbing equipment.
- Leads troubleshooting efforts and repairs water and gas distribution systems.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director.
- Utilize handheld devices and asset management system mobile apps to create and close work orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used).
- Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc..), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.
