TikTok's Privacy and Data Protection Office (PDPO) is the organization to lead, supervise, and empower all privacy work in an accountable way and eventually become overall industry leading.

Our PDPO team is expanding our Privacy Incident Response function and looking to hire an Incident Handling Specialist. This role will take part in responding to privacy incidents and protecting our users. This role requires constructively advising on incidents and working collaboratively as part of a team. This role will need to be based out of one of our offices in Mountain View, Washington DC, or New York City.

Responsibilities

• Identify, monitor, and analyze privacy reports across social and traditional media outlets related to TikTok risks;
• Design proactive strategies to control privacy risks and respond rapidly when issues occur;
• Become an expert in TikTok infrastructure, policies, products, tools, systems, and data;
• Work closely with global cross-functional teams including Product, Policy, Legal, etc., to investigate sensitive situations and determine proper solutions;
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, protocols, and policies at scale to reduce risk;
• Review reported escalations across TikTok and respond to inquiries from global partners;
• Serve as primary point of contact to provide ad-hoc and regular risk investigations support to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in risk investigations or operations, preferably in privacy operations, trust & safety, consulting, business analytics, or intelligence research environment.
• Min 3 years experience in privacy or security with at least 1 year being in incident handling.
• Experience conducting complex analyses and translating the results into recommendations.
• Ability to collaborate and influence across teams and regions to find win-win solutions.
• Willing and able to work non-traditional hours and shifts based on business needs.

Preferred Qualification

• Experience implementing or assessing the implementation of GDPR, CCPA, or equivalent privacy regulation.
• Experience working with technical security and legal teams.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, IAPP or relevant privacy certifications.
• Experience in risk control, crisis management, public relations, or public policy with understanding of online safety.
• Experience in and/or demonstrable knowledge of domains such as risk, payments, ecommerce, information security, and/or online advertising.
• Strong analytical skills, proficiency in SQL.

Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $90000 - $182000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
