Implement, organize and maintaining the facility's OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Programs (RMP). Responsible to train, track and observe facility maintenance safety. Including, but not limited to arc flash, LOTO, confined space, ammonia awareness, ladder safety, fall protection and hazmat.

Accountable and Reports to: Facility Maintenance Manager and the Facility Maintenance Superintendent

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for building, implementing, organizing and maintaining the facility's OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Programs (RMP). Responsibilities include: Written and verbal communications with refrigeration operators, facility management, corporate, and others as required in communicating the status, needs, and any necessary information regarding PSM and RMP programs
• Track the status of compliance audits, mechanical integrity, hazard analyses, incident investigation and other generated action items and recommendations, as well as keeping facility management aware of and regularly informed of compliance status are some key roles of this position
• Initiate and lead monthly PSM committee meetings involving managers and team members including but not limited to the facility manager, refrigeration supervisors, safety managers, refrigeration operators, and appropriate production management personnel
• Maintain the PSM bulletin board for communication of the PSM committee meeting minutes, be informed of refrigeration projects, facilitate management of change (MOC) process of applicable projects, conduct incident Investigations and collect, maintain, and organize all information related to the 14 elements of the Jewel-Osco PSM and RMP Programs
• Support refrigeration management with budgeting related to PSM covered processes and support refrigeration management in the development and implementation of training related to PSM covered processes
• Developing, tracking and scheduling of Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities for equipment, piping, valves, etc. as well as development of training for routine and non-routine PM tasks specified by the Mechanical Integrity Program to ensure labor use optimization.
• Maintain both electronic and hard copies of the entire program.
• Analysis of maintenance data, review of PSM required work orders and equipment history may be required to recommend repair or replacement in accordance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (RAGAGEP) to ensure equipment and facility optimization.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with establishing, planning, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.
• The coordinator will play a vital role in the departmental safety, training, and compliance. Required to do training, observations, implementation and tracking of all maintenance safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned, to include special projects

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:

• High School diploma or GED required; Vocational school or other course work beyond High School preferred.
• Strong administrative skills to include PC skills (i.e. Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, CMMS); Knowledge of AutoCAD software is a plus.
• Ammonia Refrigeration Specific position - Three years documented experience in operation / maintenance of refrigeration systems, or must successfully complete Operator I, II and III training within three (3) years of taking the position.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Need to understand priorities and make appropriate calls to maintenance leadership
• Must have the ability to handle sensitive information with confidence and discretion;
• Participate in OSHA and EPA audits and be capable of handling professional communication during audits. Communications will include understanding overall PSM/RMP federal code requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work is performed under both typical office and warehouse conditions. Some work is performed under general office conditions in a temperature controlled environment. May also be required to work short intervals in temperatures ranging from 100 to -20 degrees to verify compliance.
• The position requires the person to sit for long times of time at a desk or computer terminal.
• Potential hazards may exist with regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, movements of trucks and trailers, etc.
• Work environment is fast paced.
