We are currently hiring a Product Portfolio Analyst based at our Global Headquarters in Champaign, IL.

Horizon Hobby is seeking a product portfolio analyst that is experienced with using data to provide critical insight into the product portfolio. In this role, you will support the company’s product strategy to include analysis of the product portfolio, identify gaps in the product offerings, facilitate quarterly reviews and monthly new product development project gate schedule. You will also work closely with brand managers and market intelligence to provide competitive overview and Voice of Customer that will be drive product lifecycle management. You will have an important role in the future of Horizon Hobby.

The Product Portfolio Analyst role reports to the Product Portfolio Manager.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Drive standardization into scheduling process to manage reliable new product release dates.
  • Facilitate quarterly portfolio review and planning sessions.
  • Provide relevant reporting that monitors product development gates by exception and category segment analysis.
  • Develop and establish reporting to monitor new product scheduling which will include ETR Variance, 52-Week Schedule, 24-month Portfolio Schedule and Annual Segment Assortment.
  • Identifies gaps in the product portfolio based upon customer feedback and competitive products.
  • Provides data driven guidance for product lifecycle planning, including end-of-life planning.
  • Analyzes sales data to identify trends and new product launch performance.
  • Combine data from multiple sources to analyze, provide insight, and suggest recommendations to improve the product portfolio.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel to analyze and create visual representations of data.
  • Coordinate with market intelligence to provide Voice of Customer insights as it relates to the product portfolio.
  • Conduct SWOT analysis for product segments.

  • Deep understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Ability to combine data from multiple sources and present the data visually
  • Schedule, facilitate, and record notes for quarterly business and monthly product development gate meetings
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and adaptable to working with various systems
  • Identify gaps in the product portfolio and provide data driven recommendations
  • Be an effective communicator across multiple company divisions
  • Have a knack for prioritization
  • Listen and process feedback from product categories, sales divisions, and leadership
  • Understand the competitive landscape of the RC industry
  • RC industry background is a plus

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related business field (i.e. Business Management, Marketing, Project Management, Finance, Data Science)
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • System knowledge requirements: Microsoft Office Suite, Alliance, Oracle, and Quick Base.
  • Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels within our organization.
  • Strong analytical and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Skilled at translating customer needs into business opportunities
  • Remote Control hobby experience is preferred, but not required.
  • On-site hybrid is preferred, remote will be considered based upon candidate.
