Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Working with the staff of both National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) sites, as well as local partner organizations of the NERRs, the Conservation and Restoration Program Coordinator will lead in the creation of reserve conservation and restoration plans, then use these plans to develop project selection criteria, project proposals and project performance metrics for funding available to NERRs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Specific responsibilities include: 1) researching and synthesizing conservation and restoration planning as well as the implementation of best practices relevant to the South Carolina coastal zone; 2) coordinating stakeholder meetings to synthesize recommendations and information exchange with local communities and partner organizations; 3) coordinating the development of project selection criteria and performance metrics for project success based on partner and stakeholder input; 4) drafting and finalizing conservation and restoration plans; 5) developing proposals and applying for conservation and restoration grant funding available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and other opportunities; 6) coordinating implementation of funded projects and overseeing subsequent grant reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in environmental science, planning, or other field focused on coastal restoration projects with at least 1 year of relevant work experience, or Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in environmental science, planning, or other field focused on coastal restoration projects with at least 1 year of relevant work experience, or Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent—strong writing and communications skills. Knowledge and experience in grant writing and administration are highly desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
