The YMCA-Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County’s Program Director will be a driven, dynamic, self-directed, and energetic leader passionate about assisting our region’s youth achieve their full promise and potential through one-to-one mentoring. The BBBS Program Director is accountable for actively and transparently managing staff performance, for ensuring child safety and excellent child outcomes, and for managing external program partnerships. They will exhibit determination, bias toward action, creative problem solving, confidence, a collaborative spirit, and an inspired approach that will influence and motivate key stakeholders, donors, partners, and staff. Working with the Executive Director, Vice President of Program Advancement and other key stakeholders, the Program Director will lead formulation of data-driven short-, medium-, and long-term program priorities, will build strategy to achieve them, and will ensure effective execution against them ensuring the ongoing success of the YMCA and BBBS mission among children, families and volunteers served. The Program Director will also be responsible for leading the development of new programs. While managing to excellence they will exemplify the YMCA and BBBS core values.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Programming and Reporting

  • Work with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and others to develop the program strategy designed to generate more volunteers and matches, strengthen Big and Little match relationships, and positively impact youth development and outcomes. Lead design, development, implementation, and evaluation of annual program plan and goals.
  • Accountable for program performance and ensuring the agency develops and maintains an organized, customer-centric service delivery model (outreach, customer service, enrollment, match support, and program activities, program partnerships & communication). Monitor and drive operational effectiveness using agency processes and systems (i.e., MatchForce); gather accurate information for reports; track performance & develop measures to ensure growth, minimize BBBS risk, and meet annual agency program goals.
  • Communicate with the Vice President of Program Advancement, Executive Director and Board of Directors on matters of program effectiveness, youth outcomes, and child safety. Establish and ensure a system for quality assurance and youth protection. Serve as staff liaison and leader for Board Programs Committee.
  • Plan, lead, and drive the implementation of programs. Manages critical service and workflow issues that are impacting the ability to provide quality services. Develop and implement new program initiatives to expand mentoring services or target community issues as needed.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to develop and maintain positive working relationships with the YMCA of Snohomish County, faith-based, community, school, and business leaders in the service area to develop mutually beneficial relationships that support agency goals and priorities and provide value/benefits to our community and clients.
  • Drive collaboration between program team and other agency functions/staff, working to build and maintain a strong working relationship and strategies with the YMCA branches and youth development departments. Lead communications within and across departments related to service delivery and customer service to enhance program implementation, communicate policy, and assure compliance.
  • Work with the Executive Director to establish and oversee the agency’s program budget.
  • Grant funder planning, fulfillment, and reporting. Participates in strategy for grant funder requests and reporting on deliverables. Ensures that all systems required to track and report on program functions due to grant requirements are established and maintained as needed.
  • Participate and contribute to the Youth Leadership Advancement Team.
  • Develop and enhance the agency’s outreach efforts to ensure that the agency’s image, mission, values, and advocacy for children and youth are properly communicated to people throughout the service area.
  • Research “best practices” that can be integrated into nationwide models for replication and investments. May represent the agency at the regional or national level.

  • Attend required meetings and events as scheduled.
  • Establish and promote positive communication among all team members of BBBS and YMCA Youth Leadership to increase collaboration and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Professionally represent BBBS at all times, providing courteous service to both internal and external constituents and presenting a positive image of BBBS.
  • Participate in professional development training/continuing education as they relate to YMCA and BBBS goals and requirements.
  • Support the Agency’s fundraising initiatives, including Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Benefit Auction, Car Show, and Annual Campaign.
  • Abide by BBBS policies and practices.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

  • The performance will be evaluated based on meeting the requirements of the job description; meeting performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working effectively in a team environment and demonstrating the values of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the YMCA of Snohomish County.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3)-to-five (5) years of demonstrated success in youth development program leadership
  • Bachelor’s Degree (in related field preferred)
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong technology skills required (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, )
  • Strong key performance indicator/reporting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to manage a team remotely
  • Ability to move between big picture concerns and technical requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and demands in tandem and to deadline
  • Preference for working in a fast-paced, data-driven performance management culture
  • Experience working with information technology, hiring, and training staff, and program management

Per Washington State law, we disclose the full range of the pay grade for this position which is $65,479.00 - $78,574.80
