Under limited supervision, plan and direct the maintenance and repair of City facilities, buildings and structures.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Establishes priorities and develops work schedules for the timely completion of all work assigned to the division.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of City facilities, recommends maintenance actions including the implementation of specific maintenance programs, and provides written reports for project modifications.
  • Prepares and manages contractual service agreements and technical specifications for projects within the City facilities.
  • Establishes divisional goals, objectives, operating policies, procedures, standards and program performance measures for the following areas: special projects and facilities maintenance.
  • Coordinates assigned activities with other areas of the department, other City departments, and outside agencies including electric, telephone and cable companies.
  • Gives technical assistance on maintenance issues to the other departments and divisions of the City as required.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in building maintenance and six (6) years experience in building maintenance and construction or any equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Two (2) years of supervisory experience is required. A valid Florida CDL Class "B" is required or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment. A valid Florida driver's license is required at time of application.

This position is represented by the Professional Managers and Supervisors Association.

Successful passing of a background check and drug screening is required.
