The Staff Psychologist provides psychological testing services, supervision of interns/practicum students and/or clinicians providing direct individual, family, group treatment services. The Staff Psychologist also participates in and/or coordinates involuntary commitment case preparation with other members of the evaluation team, officers of the Court, and treatment staff. The Staff Psychologist testifies as an expert witness in involuntary commitment hearings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews and records reviews for the purpose of diagnosis and assessment in the context of outpatient psychological assessment.
  • Administer, score, and interpret assessment measures.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing the patient history, assessment process and results, diagnosis(es), and treatment recommendations.
  • Provide assessment feedback regarding results, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations to client, treatment providers and/or family and medication prescribers.
  • Perform Civil Commitment evaluations via records review, consultations, and in-person interviews for adult and adolescent involuntary patients at various inpatient facilities.
  • Contact witnesses for collateral information.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary treatment teams regarding treatment and discharge planning in the context of the civil commitment process.
  • Prepare court documents/petitions for purposes of involuntary treatment.
  • Provide expert witness testimony in prospective civil commitment court cases.
  • Consistently complete all required reports, forms and documentation related to assigned cases in a timely, accurate and thorough manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES:
REQUIRED:
  • Doctorate Degree in Psychology or related field.
  • Clinical Licensure (or license eligible in Washington State within 6 months of employment).
PREFERRED:
  • Three years post licensure experience and psychological testing experience with child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Experience in court evaluation or the legal/court system.
  • Knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and statutes pertaining to involuntary treatment, client rights.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILTIES:
  • Knowledge of mental health symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Knowledge of construction, appropriate use, administration, and interpretation of assessment measures.
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied, backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level and socio-economical status.
  • This position may require travel within the Spokane Community. Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active drivers’ license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.
PAY RANGE (Salary/Exempt): $102,947.58 - $125,419.69
  • All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus, the starting pay is $102,947.58 annually.
