Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, some weekends, schedule may be subject to change to a 10hr shift 4 days a week

OVERVIEW
The lead PV installer is responsible for assembling the mechanical portion of a PV system. This includes installing feet, racking and the panels as designed by the engineering team. Accuracy and safety are important to Rising Sun. It is important that the Installers follow and promote all company protocols ensuring overall efficiency. Crew Leaders ultimately lead by example by ensuring best safety practices and the completion of solar projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates the highest level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with colleagues, customers, and vendors
  • Minimum of three years experience in building and constructing solar, electrical, roofing, or other similar trades and/or equivalent education
  • Experience in the overall integration of design engineering, construction, start-up, close-out, turnover and subsequent O&M of a variety of construction projects
  • 10 hour OSHA training and certification
  • Familiar with local and national building and electrical codes and permitting
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret plans for solar installations including but not limited to rooftop plans and Electrical SLDs.
  • Valid Hawaii issued driver’s license and a clean driver’s record (i.e., no DUIs in the past five years, no speeding tickets over 20 MPH, etc.)
  • Proactive in collaborating with management in creating and fine tuning company standards and procedures to be adapted in policies and the ERP
  • Experience in working with Microsoft word applications, Google suite, Netsuite, etc.
  • Follows, promotes and enforces all company operations standards, policies and processes and uses company wide adopted software
  • Positive outlook even when challenged with physically or mentally demanding situations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining vehicle clean by cleaning out all trash from the day before (cardboard), submit part returns, throughout the day ensures parts are put back in their place
  • Prepare for day’s work by filling water coolers with fresh water ensuring enough for team
  • Pulls and provides directions to pull materials and tools and restock vehicle with install equipment and material
  • Performs general site preparation and continuous job-site clean-up by putting up the tent and setting up work table, staging tools and charging them, pulling materials
  • Directs which materials hauled onto roof for installation
  • Perform any preparation for rail installation: measure, cut and splice rail
  • Directs layout of PV system by using drawings and PV knowledge to ensure proper placement
  • Maintain constant communication with their crew members on the status of task completion and are proactive in accomplishing all tasks assigned and those necessary for the job.
  • Participates in regular safety practices learns safety protocols to apply at job site
  • Maintains a neat and professional appearance, job site and communicates with the customers in a positive manner.
  • Prepare the roof for attachment points by neatly cutting/lifting shingles where flashing will be placed.
  • Prepare lag bolts and washers to connect to flashings, install
  • Performs geocell application on any of the attachment points to create waterproofing
  • Mounts rails onto L brackets and leveling all racking
  • Performs bonding of all rails
  • Pass up panels
  • Oversees Setting up and breaking down job site
  • Maintain constant communication with their crew leader on the status of task completion and is proactive in accomplishing all tasks assigned and those necessary for the job.
  • Participates in regular safety practices learns safety protocols to apply at job site
  • Maintains a neat and professional appearance, job site and communicates with the customers in a positive manner.
  • Installs fall protection safety equipment on job site
  • Performs home runs and installing opOmarizers and collecting stickers and mapping them correctly. Making sure wire management is clean and organized by not touching the roof or exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Ensures MC4 connectors are installed properly
  • Ensures proper lay out of panels, making sure space is consistent, and panels are all level
  • Trims ends of rail and places end caps. Ensures to clean up any shavings from roof
  • Prepares material lists for the following day
  • Tests strings/voltage and documenting
  • Ensure collection of all photos throughout the entire process of installation and upload by the end of the day.
  • Troubleshooting reverse polarity in the even that testing is not showing correct voltage reading
  • On an ongoing basis prepares reports and submits them in a timely manner. Completes job packets and submits upon completion of the job.
  • Works with EJ to coordinate for quality and consistency on the job site.
  • Is able to install and lead on all types of roofs/ground mounts, etc.
  • Provides training, mentorship and supervision for new employees
  • Monitors and reports any quality control issues from subcontractors
  • Continues to learn and fine tune skills related to electrical work, inverter and battery programming as well as overall monitoring of system functionality
  • Other duties as assigned by management

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, climb, bend, kneel, balance,
stoop, walk and reach. The employee will frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Comfortable climbing ladders plus on occasion standing and working on rooftops (single and multiple level stories in both hot and cold weather).
