Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector will be able to establish and maintain a quality system similar to the ISO9000: 2001 model for the purpose of ensuring compliance of the product being built and shipped to the customer’s requirements. Perform duties in the receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly and test areas that ensure the quality of the product. Inspect the parts for accuracy and legitimacy, correct dimensional tolerances, and finish requirements. Requires the use of some judgment to comply with instructions or established procedural methods or practices and the making of minor decisions. Must also be able to make decisions as to acceptance of product using information provided.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Quality Control Inspector will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

  • Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements
  • Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
  • Proposing improvements to the production process
  • Performing a finished goods audit (FG)
  • Work from specification and drawings, routing tickets, oral and written instruction and other documentation
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments when required
  • Use field and customer feedback to improve the quality where required
  • Perform task of determining accuracy of orders to schedule and jobs
  • Make decisions as to acceptable quality within limits and print specifications and workmanship standards
  • Perform limited dimensional and visual inspections of purchased parts and materials for conformity to standards, specifications and processing requirements
  • Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, customer support
  • Operate forklift or other lift truck
  • Must perform all work in accordance with safety procedures
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience with quality assurance tools such as FMEA, gages, Paretos, incoming inspection sampling plans and run charts required
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing inspection experience required
  • Basic computer and math skills to calibrate and measure specifications
  • Ability to use measuring devices like gauges, micrometers, calipers and computers
  • Blueprint reading capabilities, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • In-depth understanding of company standards
  • Understanding of target market and customer requirements
  • Documentation and reporting skills
  • 1+ years experience operating powered forklifts
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and a team player
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 year college degree preferred
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
  • Hands-on, high-energy individual with an eagerness to learn and excel, and the capability to engage other in training and bringing out their best performance.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and the resilience to handle stressful situations
