Job Summary:
Under general supervision from the Director of Golf Course Maintenance and Golf Course Superintendent, ensures all golf course maintenance reel and rotary mowers remain in good working order and provides quality preventative maintenance and repair work.

Description/Responsibilities:

• Checks and adjusts height of cut daily to ensure consistent mowing conditions throughout the golf courses.
• Checks quality of cut daily to ensure consistent mowing conditions throughout the golf courses.
• Machine and mill parts, grinds reels, bed knifes, and repairs and rebuilds reels as needed.
• Performs back lapping on all reel mowers as needed.
• Performs machine calibration, routine inspections and preventative maintenance lubrication and services.
• Sets up and modifies new machinery and equipment as needed.
• Maintains records indicating all preventive maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
• Performs necessary inspections and repairs when needed out in the field not only within shop.
• Ensures that the service area and maintenance building remain clean and orderly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years equipment maintenance and/or machining required. Reel grinding experience plus.
• May consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
• Ability to operate a variety of shop tools, small equipment, and hand tools in a safe manner.
• Ability to work independently and produce quality work in a timely manner.
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service and maintain positive, effective working relationships.
• Communication skills; written and verbal; documentation, communication with peers, etc.
• Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• More than 50% of the typical workday may be spent walking, sitting, standing and using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers.
• Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent climbing stairs, pushing and pulling.
• Less than 25% of the typical day is spent balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching.
• Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing.
• Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment and determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
• The majority of the work is conducted both inside an office setting as well as outside. Work performed outside will be exposed to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.
• Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts and moving vehicles.
• May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation.
• Will be subject to close quarters, such as narrow aisles or passageways/hallways.
• Noise levels are generally considered normal to loud.
