Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology
Full-Time, Day Shift, 7a-7p
UM Upper Chesapeake Health, Bel Air, MD
Job Summary:
A clinically competent Registered Nurse who utilizes the nursing process under the direction of the hospice provider RN to deliver care from adult (age 18 years) to geriatric population as defined in the unit-specific structural standards of the assigned area.
Skills & Abilities:
- Read, write and comprehend medical terminology;
- Effectively convey verbal and written information and medical terminology;
- Perform mathematical calculations correctly;
- Organize and manage time effectively setting appropriate priorities to make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures and nursing standards;
- Respond to emergency situations appropriately;
- Adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospice residence, including all shifts;
- Effectively function as a member of a collaborative team;
- Demonstrates leadership potential;
- Comply with OSHA standards; and
- Understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality;
- Develops and promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team member, physicians, intra and inter-departments, hospital, hospice providers and nursing administration.
Qualifications
Education & Training:
- Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred but not required
- Currently licensed as RN in the State of Maryland
- Certification in BCLS required
- Solid knowledge and clinical skills
- Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP)
Work Orientation & Experience:
- One year experience as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse required.
- May require up to 3 weeks of orientation with a preceptor.
