Representative, Patient Service Rep I Job at Regional One Health

JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position serves as the primary access point for patients within the inpatient and outpatient medical clinics/practices and is the initial focal point of the patient experience. Responsible for the gathering, entry and verification of registration information. In addition, this position is responsible for the collection of co-pays, may provide entry of patient charges and facilitates the care process by effectively processing information in a timely and accurate manner. This position must retain a high level of professionalism at all points of time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a clerical or medical office program desired.


EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years’ clerical, customer service, or related experience such as medical office or administrative services. Completion of a unit clerk, medical office, general clerical, customer service training or equivalent education may be utilized in lieu of experience (documentation required).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills as well as knowledge of ambulatory/outpatient department operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to function as liaison between physicians, office staff and the patients and their family members and be able to demonstrate a high level of customer service when working with patients who present under adverse situations.
  • Knowledge of clinic/ambulatory department protocol, understanding of coding, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of both governmental and private insurance rules for payment, including how to read an insurance card.
  • Self-motivated and possess a high level of judgment skills and initiative, along with ability to prioritize and coordinate several tasks simultaneously, while retaining a confident, knowledgeable and helpful demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude towards health care team members and diverse patient populations required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The individual performing this job may anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials; as a result, required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies regarding infection control.
  • Depending upon workload at an individual site, may be required to travel to alternate sites, or accept assignments from alternative sites.
  • High volume data entry requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, visual acuity to operate standard office equipment and sitting for long periods.

Schedule: Full-time, Evening or Night shift, 7p to 7a; 3p-11p
