DESCRIPTION:

The company has a worldwide presence, with a state-of-the-art research and development lab in Rancho Santa Fe.
Rancho Tissue Technologies is known for their tissue culture production of both ornamental and food crops. Many of our introductions have become ornamental crops which are produced worldwide.

Rancho Tissue Technologies has an opening for a Research Associate with 2--3 years Plant Tissue Culture experience

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate new varieties into the lab
Build up into production blocks newly initiated plants
Improve existing blocks of research plants currently in the lab
Design and implement research to optimize growth of the tissue culture plants in the la

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum: B.Sc. in plant biology or related field

2-3 years experience working in a plant tissue culture lab as an associate researcher
Experience initiating plants into culture
Experience manipulating plants invitro with plant growth regulators etc. to produce desired outcomes
Experience working in a laminar flow hood for several hours each day
Experience with bioreactors is a plus

CORE CAPABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and motivational skills, accurate record keeping, and attention to detail.
Able to use judgment and make routine recommendations for resolving problems in moderately complex assignments.
Highly proficient in Excel and MS Office suite. MS Access or other database experience a plus.
Able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
Able to follow SOPs and perform troubleshooting on procedures.
Ability to adapt to minor changes in routine to achieve objectives.
Effectively communicates with supervisor through meetings and report writing.
Ability to be independent, self-motivated, and enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment
