The Saha Cardiovascular Research Center is seeking an experienced technician for the purpose of assisting with the laboratory of Mary Sheppard who is investigating aortic aneurymsm. This necessitates the employment of an individual to focus on the translational projects to specifically serve this P

Shift
Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends may be required due to experimentation.

Job Summary
This position will assist the completion of complex research experiments involving aortic diseases. Funding of this position will be provided from departmentally allocated research support and extramural grant funds. Personnel in this position will be expected to perform scientific experiments, assist in developing projects, design and plan new research projects, and ensure protocols are followed. Writing scientific papers and compiling research results, inclusive of contributing to grant writing, is also part of this role. This role will also be responsible for supervising technicians and graduate students and will provide advice on assignments of defined research projects skills. Good record keeping, flexible, willingness to work with priorities of lab and learn new techniques will also be priorities.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Working experience with Sigma Plot, PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel. Proficient with writing and completion of IACUC-compliant small animal care; advanced lab skills; scientific writing and editing.
