GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Residency Counselor is responsible for representing the community to prospective residents for Independent Living and the Memory Care unit. The Residency Counselor manages the occupancy process from first inquiry to receipt of deposit to move-in in relation to the representation, negotiation and promotion of the community to that individual. In addition, this position includes Community Outreach. Community outreach includes direct contact with medical and business professionals in the surrounding area in order to generate referral activity and soliciting direct referrals from these sources.

Essential Job Duties:

ü Manages the occupancy process from first inquiry to receipt of deposit to move-in in relation to the representation, negotiation and promotion of the community to that individual.

ü Works with the prospective resident, family members and key influencers (physician, attorney, trust officer, as appropriate) to facilitate a timely and beneficial commitment to the community.

ü Responsible for the professional handling of all incoming inquiries.

ü Manages all information relating to the prospective resident/inquiry: communication with administration, communication with direct supervision and accurate documentation of all contact in the Leads Management System.

ü Promotes the occupancy process through ongoing contact with a prospective resident via telephone, personal visits, tours and home visit activities as appropriate.

ü Provides to the Marketing Director and Executive Director marketing planning information about opportunities or challenges, to be used in the development of strategies for maintaining optimal occupancy levels.

ü Fully understands and articulately represents all documents related to residency, including RA, DS, etc.

ü Staffs the office during established hours of operation, which may include evenings and weekends.

ü Responsible for meeting the community’s sales and occupancy levels in accordance with the marketing plan. Results will be achieved through strategic networking with area professionals, including but not limited to: presentations at both the community and the surrounding community at-large, community tours, follow-up telephone calls and appointments to keep the professionals informed.

ü Pre-qualifies sources of professional referrals to determine their ability to send qualified potential residents to the community. Identifies those key decision makers and communicates with those involved in making or influencing the decision about making referrals to community.

ü Creates new and services existing relationships with professional referral sources. Including telephone contact, community tours, in-office visits at the professional’s office, etc. All contact with the professional referral sources is accurately documented in the Leads Management System.

ü Responsible for preparation and implementation of an Action Plan which will detail the planned and actual contacts made with professional referral sources. Will schedule sufficient activity to generate the number of referral leads as outlined in the marketing plan.

ü Participate in local organizations identified as bringing value, by making presentations and joining as a member where appropriate, in order to facilitate a broader knowledge of the industry and of the community’s capabilities.

ü Keeps updated about relevant operational, competitive, and company information, in order to respond effectively to inquiries from contacts and convey community message.

ü Develops a formal community relations strategy to be incorporated in the annual community marketing plan, in conjunction with the appropriate LCS Marketing staff and the Community Director or Administrator.

Other Duties:

ü Assumes responsibilities for personal work areas and maintaining areas in a presentable manner.

ü Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct supervision or administration.

ü Develops and implements special events and presentations targeted as community education, establishing and maintaining status for the community as the premier provider of retirement living.

ü Assists the Director, Marketing Staff and the appropriate LCS staff in the development of collateral materials, press releases and advertising as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a high comfort level communicating effectively with both large and small groups of people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement and analytical skills.
  • One-year experience in comparable marketing; education or experience in marketing, public relations, promotions or sales is desirable.
  • Must have knowledge of and special sensitivity to the needs of the aging.
  • Must work independently with self-discipline and self-motivation.
  • Must present a professional appearance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently.
