The Resource Development Coordinator assists in the administrative and organizational functions for Resource Development. This position directly supports the department in executing strategies that will increase revenue and support organizational growth. Duties include tasks related to donor and grant research, donor engagement and stewardship, database management and event coordination.

This position is office-based out of South Portland; in-state travel for event support and donor meetings as needed.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Correctly process donations, prepare acknowledgement letters and assist the Donor Engagement Manager with regular communications for donor stewardship.

2. Maintain donor database software system (Raiser’s Edge) and foundation, corporation, and individual donor files.

3. Record donor interactions, relationships and other relevant information in the donor database in accordance with database policies and procedures.

4. Develop and maintain an alumni relations network to foster connections, deepen loyalty and encourage financial support.

5. Create accurate monthly fundraising reports and other database reports, as needed.

6. Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors and grantors.

7. Coordinate the production and mailing of appeals.

8. Assist in the preparation and writing of grant proposals and donor communications, as may be assigned.

9. Assist with the preparation and logistics for all fund-raising events.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education or equivalent life/work experience in fund development, preferably for a nonprofit organization.
  • Proficiency in using alumni/donor database applications - Raiser's Edge experience, preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on active listening and public presentation; able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers, volunteers and staff.
  • Display discretion when working with a wide range of sensitive and confidential material.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work while managing multiple deadlines.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to think critically.
  • Use sound judgment in decision-making and to work independently.
  • Cultivate and build relationships, working positively as a team member.
  • Learn quickly and have a desire to work in all aspects of fund development.
  • Ability to deal with the general public in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary around events, this may include an occasional night or weekend. Some travel may also be required by position responsibilities.
  • Must have access to personal transportation on a daily basis for business travel and have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement and become a registered member of GSUSA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability and willingness to perform tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, which may involve some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 25 pounds).
