Summary/Objective:
The Safety Manager will manage and coordinate Safety within a client’s site to ensure all regulatory provisions and procedures are being applied. The Safety Manager is responsible for the creation and implementation of the local HSE improvement plan and advises and supports site management and operational staff to promote employee health, safety, and environmental performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Works independently and provides consultative advice within specific functional areas.
  • Applies advanced Health & Safety process principles to multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in area of specialization and contributes to other disciplines.
  • Develops, implements, and manages safety / environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommends corrective measures.
  • Investigates and prepares presentations for all incidents and property losses as needed.
  • Organizes and oversees all required safety training, i.e., fork truck, lockout, new hire onboarding.
  • Provides Supervisors/Branch Managers with safety training information for weekly and monthly safety meetings.
  • Identifies gaps in training curriculum by analyzing injury/illness data.
  • Manages the contractor safety program and ensures compliance.
  • Assists inspection personnel from insurance carriers, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.
  • Manages Local, State, and Federal environmental permits to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in purchasing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Prepares monthly incident summary reports.
  • Supervises maintenance of OSHA 300 logs.
  • Assists with the administration of the workers compensation program.
  • Assists with all property/casualty insurance claims.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental discipline
  • Experience in Risk Management/Mitigation
  • Experience in OSHA Regulatory Compliance
  • Experience in Occupational Safety and Health System (ISO 45001:2018 or equivalent)
  • Experience in First Aid (CPR/AED)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene, air monitoring for heavy metals and asbestos, and noise abatement
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization and exchange complex information
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Must be able to travel out of state as needed for TA’s, special projects, etc.
  • Able to speak in front of large groups of people.
  • Pass Drug and alcohol test.
Physical Requirements:
  • Required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing.
  • Required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands.
  • Requires specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Will spend time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed
  • On call 24/7 as needed.
