POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing, monitoring and ensuring the integrity and timeliness of project schedules. He/she participates with the program management, planning, and production control teams to resource load schedules, produce projections, analyze CPM, performance collections and support financial management tools and financial reports throughout the duration of all significant projects. The incumbent provides regular schedule reports, projections, and analyses to Project/Program Teams, customers, and senior management. The role prepares ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Maintain all required project schedules, utilizing scheduling software including Primavera P6 and MS Project.
- Coordinate in accordance to specifications and contract documents; understand the project work, and the schedule and reporting requirements of the contract. Assume responsibility for assigned areas.
- Communicate with project management team to ensure that scheduling and EVMS efforts are managed in accordance with the contract requirements and meet internal collection/reporting that supports management needs.
- Participate in PERT planning process; obtain input and participation in schedule development.
- Identify correct logical relationships, constraints, etc. and propose best schedule methodology for the project.
- Works with production management team to develop budgets, and resource load schedule activities. Ability to produce labor projections, graphs, and reports.
- Maintain multiple project schedules. Solicit and provide input weekly progress updates.
- Produce schedules and schedule reports as required for both internal management and reporting to external customers.
- Incorporate scope changes and other changes to project schedules, analyze, record and report impacts.
- Works with internal and external resources to resolve conflicts, problems, and coordinate schedules.
- Ensures that an open communication system is available where all stakeholders are informed of any changes to the schedule
- Performs timely and accurate processing of schedule updates
- Monitor production process, workflow, and schedules to ensure on-time delivery
- Identify and report work capacity constraints
- Perform weekly schedule updates with option to utilize P6 import commands and excel status update sheets into the subject project file
JOB SCOPE:
Operates within general parameters, but must use sound judgment and independent decision-making when carrying our most job responsibilities. No budget responsibility, but does monitor contract and subcontract performance to establish progress and status. Will provide general scheduling support and maintenance as described from customer requirements and by management directive in order to identify program delivery issues, which could impact program costs and affect company cash flow.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Although the Scheduler does not have direct supervisory responsibility, he/she is expected to provide technical coaching for less experienced team members. Includes other departments when opportunity arises.

This role interacts with all levels of management.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- PC and software applications such as Primavera version P6, Microsoft Project, scheduling and database programs.
- Familiar with production line new build related procedures for ship construction and/or complex fabrication methods and processes.
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal for constant interaction with all departments and outside customers.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and also take independent initiatives when the need arises.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Adequate analytical, leadership, and planning skills
- Ability to research and analyze problem areas and special requests.
- Self-starter, well organized, detailed and customer (internal and external) oriented.
- Read and comprehend work specifications, work orders, blueprints, contracts and technical publications.
- Handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively as well as respond to last minute, high priority, time sensitive projects.
- Schedule, suggest and communicate within a diverse department and coordinate work with other departments to maintain efficiency.
- Facilitate group decision-making and conflict resolution.
- React and perform in emergency situations. Proactive results is ideal.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate is required.
- AA degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Minimum 5 (years) years of increasing responsibility in a schedule creation, management capacity.
- Experience and familiarity with budgeting, estimating, and planning/scheduling principles is a plus.
- Experience and knowledge of data processing systems such as ERP/MRP. Experience with IFS (ERP) is a plus.
- Experience and understanding of AISC and other quality program certification requirements is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard or fabrication bays. 80% normal office environment; 20% of time spent in production. The individual may be required to be in production areas in yard and bays. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. When in production areas, the individual is required to follow Vigor’s PPE requirements with full aware of their environment in a shop setting. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 5% of the time with notice. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
