Greets and receives patient into health care facility. Schedules and answers phone calls for ten plus providers. Responsible for accurate and timely processing of patient demographics and insurance information. Obtains electronic signature to treat and patient financial obligation. Provides excellent customer service, and uses strong written and oral communication skills. This position is the first impression of the Clinic to the patient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Three (3) years’ experience in a physician/hospital scheduling and registration (including obtaining prior authorizations, admissions, and insurance verifications) or business office environment.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Obtains demographic/billing/insurance information from patient/family/legal guardian and enters into the registration/billing systems for service and claims processing.

2. Schedules appointments for over ten providers.

3. Schedules incoming appointments through work que, schedule outgoing appointments and tests for patients.

4. Performs administrative office work. (i.e. phone, fax, computers, scanner).

5. Obtains and scans patient insurance/medical cards and driver’s license into the registration system.

6. Collects co-payments, provides patient receipt.

7. Provides financial assistance program information and applications as appropriate.

8. Follows up on accounts as directed.

9. Verifies MSPQ during registration.

10. Maintains confidentiality according to policy when interacting with patients, physicians, families, co-workers and the public regarding demographics/clinical/financial information.

11. Is polite and respectful when communicating with staff, physicians, patients and families. Approaches interpersonal relations in a positive manner.

12. Complies with Notice of Privacy Practices, and the Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities.

13. Calls insurance companies to check and obtain pre-cert for procedures and testing.

1. Work is performed in a standard outpatient clinical environment. Volume of patients very high.

2. Required considerable attention to detail, the ability to be organized and to be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously

3. Requires the ability to understand medical insurance requirements for payment and basic knowledge of covered services

4. Must be able to provide information on demand, at times taking request from several sources

5. Must be able to work with a variety of personality types and interact with individuals with various levels of education, capabilities, and communication skills.

6. Very fast paced and demanding office setting.

1. Basic computer/fax/telephone skills.

3. Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.

4. Good written and verbal skills.

5. Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.

6. Knowledge of computer applications.
