The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is a regional government agency that provides water reclamation and flood management services for about 1.1 million people in 28 communities in the greater Milwaukee area. The District's mission protects public health and the environment through world-class, cost-effective water resource management, leadership, and partnership. The District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Project Manager in the Technical Services Division. Reporting to a Section Manager, you will provide project management services for assigned District projects to ensure completion is on time and within budget. These projects involve the development of cost-effective solutions to wastewater treatment, conveyance, and water quality challenges.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Develop project scope and objectives for capital improvement projects at the District's water reclamation facilities, sanitary interceptor sewer system, inline storage system, and other areas as assigned. Ensure projects meet operational, environmental, and long-term goals of the District.Prepare schedule and budget estimates for capital improvement projects.Manage projects to ensure conformance with District policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs) for procurement of engineering services related to capital improvement projects. Oversee professional services contracts.Coordinate project stakeholders, including contract operator, municipalities, utility groups, regulatory agencies, and community groups. Provide quality assurance reviews of projects.Review engineering analyses of the District's facilities for assigned projects.Provide technical assistance for legal, contract compliance, and construction services' groups.Confirm the completion of all required documentation, record documents, and record drawings. Comply with safety work rules and regulations while on project sites.Complete special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in civil/mechanical/environmental/electrical engineering, or related disciplineSix to seven years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceValid Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredPlanning, design, construction, or project management experienceStrong project management and organizational skillsCommunicate clearly, concisely, and accuratelyAbility to work independently to apply engineering principles and practices to the solution of engineering problemsExperience in managing and controlling multiple project schedules and budgetsScheduling and contract management software experience is preferred Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) experience requiredAbility to complete OSHA safety, confined spaces, and first aid trainingValid driver's license and a good driving record at time of application, during the selection process, and throughout employment
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, you will work in an office environment 90% of the time and exposed to outside weather conditions 10% of the time. While outside, or at the treatment plant, employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, noise, fumes, odors, and risk of electrical shock. Ability to enter a tunnel, walk on uneven terrain, and access a confined space area. Requires the use of safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, coverall, gloves, rain gear, and safety vest as dictated by the location of work being performed.MMSD is committed to equal employment and to nondiscrimination in all aspects of the employment relationship.
