THE ROLE

Somnio is looking for a full-time Senior UI/UX Designer. This would be a full-time, remote position working on a variety of business to business web-based tools and applications. The ideal person should have a strong background in visual/interaction design, UX/UI, branding & identity, and typography. In addition, we need someone who has lead teams in the past as you will have the opportunity to lead small teams on projects and contribute to business development through proposal-writing and pitches. You will lead client conversations within your domain and provide at articulate recommendations and helping to guide client choices.

Responsibilities:

• Work with stakeholders across disciplines to define the strategic vision of UX, product, or service
• Review the design strategy and deliverables of projects and ensure alignment with stakeholders
• Guide and lead every aspect of the UX design, defining or reviewing wireframes, high fidelity prototypes, or micro interactions
• Adopt best practices in design thinking, lean, & user-centered design principles
• Improve upon existing UX design tools and methodologies and create best practices
• This is a hands on role, and you will be responsible in designing delightful user experiences for the web: wire-frames, site maps, flow diagrams, content schema, mock-ups, usability testing, and specifications documents
• Take ownership of various Somnio client brands, establishing rapport and responsibility regarding client branding and style-guides, etc.
• Produce thoughtful and innovative work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Gain an in-depth understand of agency process and champion its merit

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent communication, collaboration and teaching skills
• 5+ years of professional visual design experience (although you might have had a different job title, like "UI designer" or "art director")
• Highly developed design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
• Confident presentation and storytelling abilities
• Have solid time management skills with the ability to adapt quickly and flexibly
• Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of web technology
• Experience collaborating in multifunctional teams as the visual design lead
• Proficiency with contemporary design and prototyping tools and methods
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketch, InVison
• Knowledge of CSS/HTML and development, including CMS and mobile responsive design
• Advanced skills in visual design, branding, and interactive design processes
• Excellent written, oral and inter-personal communication skills with clients and project managers
• Ability to give and take constructive criticism and art direction with a respectful, patient style
