Overview
The SEO Specialist will execute technical, content, and local SEO initiatives as a part of the bigger strategy on Sally Beauty and Cosmoprof’s U.S. and Canadian websites. In your role you will work closely with the SEO Manager, E-Commerce, front and back-end development, CRM as well as the Paid Media Team. It will be your responsibility to ensure that Sally Beauty and Cosmoprof’s technical/content SEO stays on par with the ever changing landscape of Google’s algorithm updates. Execute keyword research, content audits and optimizations, competitor monitoring and gap analysis, and internal linking architecture. Be able to explain the impact of SEO on larger business objectives to a wide range of stakeholders. Effectively use data to get SEO initiatives prioritized and resourced. Occasionally you will be creating new content but most often you will lend your expertise to reviewing articles from other teams.
Audit and monitor the website, find technical & content issues affecting our rankings and organic traffic. Strategize with SEO Manager on how to solve these issues and then working directly with the necessary teams to get the solutions implemented.
Analyze current and historical data to gage when technical/content changes to the site have affected organic traffic either positively or negatively.
Read articles to stay up to date with algorithm updates and when they will take effect.
Meeting with various different teams to discuss findings of audits, monthly site initiatives. Advising in meetings when making certain changes will/won’t affect SEO.
Creating monthly reports, spreadsheets, reporting slides or dashboards to use in weekly meetings. Occasionally speaking in meetings in place of SEO Manager.
Creating new content based on keyword research for trending topics/questions
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of experience in a previous SEO focused role
- Advanced knowledge of Google Search Console, Google Analytics
- Able to create schema markup (JSON-LD)
- Able to identify and implement proper canonicalization, hreflang tags, noindex/nofollow
- Analyze and identify areas of site speed improvement from waterfall reports
- Complete understanding of EAT when analyzing existing or new content
- Knowledge on how to keep robots.txt and sitemaps up to date to maximize crawl/indexability
- Proficient technical SEO knowledge
- Experience with SEMrush, Conductor Searchlight, Ahrefs, MajesticSEO, GTmetrix, webpagetest.org, Google Page Speed Insights
