Merlin Day Academy is Eyas Landing's newest innovative program designed to provide education and therapeutic intervention in a supportive classroom environment.

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team of top pediatric specialists. Ideal candidates should be interested in developing their teaching skills using evidence-based practice in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative setting through one-on-one and group sessions with children and adolescents, and providing family support through direct service.

Responsibilities

• Implements educational activities and lesson plans for Merlin clients
• Assists in the coordination and implementation of the process for selection of instructional materials for the various curricular areas
• Differentiates instructional materials and curriculum based on the individual needs of each student
• Promotes and assist with instructional coaching
• Establish and maintain relationships with clients and families by providing parent education, home programs, and parent support as needed.
• Utilize the most current evidence based treatment and theoretical models that align with Merlin Day Academy guiding theories of practice.
• Participate in on-going collaboration with the client's therapy team and family including weekly emails, phone calls and in person discussions, as needed.
• Collaborate with scheduling team to manage caseload requirements.
• Works with therapy team to create visual schedules and social stories to help support therapy goals.
• Participate in required supervision meetings with supervisor.
• Report directly to your supervisor on all tasks, employee performance and meetings, as needed.
• Participate in all required company orientation, professional development days and ongoing trainings as required.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings, department meetings and as needed team meetings.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

.Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement (LBS1) preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of special education teaching experience in Lieu of LBS1 endorsement
• Experience working with individuals with autism and emotional needs

Eyas Landing is an outpatient, multidisciplinary pediatric therapy clinic. Our Merlin Day Academy program provides students with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neuro-diverse learning needs ages 6 to 14 an intensive, individualized educational environment that cultivates relationship-based, family-centered care to strengthen educational and functional skills for students to become active, successful participants in their community. Our collaborative team of therapists and educators provide special education and occupational therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), developmental therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, language therapy, nutrition, and feeding therapy services.

We're expanding in West Loop and our brand-new facility in Avondale, and our sister companies (Eyas Landing & Blue Bird Day Program) support families in West Loop, Northcenter, and Wheaton.
