SQF Coordinator: Position Grade B


Position Objective

To assist in maintaining a safe working environment including health, safety, and environmental training for plant personnel ensuring OSHA and product safety standard compliance while enhancing housekeeping and 5S programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Good oral/written communication skills
  • Computing / work processing experience
  • Minimum one-year safety / product safety experience
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate various job tasks
  • HACCP Training


Training


All compulsory plant / site training programs (ISO, Operations, Product Safety, Safety, etc)

  • OSHA
  • SQF Edition 8.1 for Packaging, Manufacturers V.
  • HACCP
  • Internal Auditor for SQF Edition 8.1 for Packaging, Manufacturers V.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Job Tasks and Duties
  • Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance with the following topics in mind:
  • Perform routine job safety analysis, building safety inspections and reviews;
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Fire Prevention Program
  • Hazard Communication Program
  • Personal Protective Equipment Program


  • Maintain training documentation
  • Assist in maintaining safety guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Effectively communicate both safety and environmental training topics
  • Maintain all safety related documents current
  • Provide initial new hire safety training and follow-up interaction for new employees
  • Assists in safety incident reporting/investigations
  • Maintain and file documentation
  • Issue safety permits
  • Assist with Product Safety material
  • Assign job duties / work orders to THM team
  • Manage OSHA 300 log / injury related paperwork
  • Prepare safety training
  • Product Safety inspections / audits
  • Fork lift PM coordination
  • Ensure water inventory
  • Management of restroom / breakroom cleanliness
  • Fire Extinguisher inspection / refill as necessary
  • Fire hose inspection / refill as necessary
  • First Aid Kit inspection / refill as necessary
  • Eye wash inspection / refill as necessary
  • First Aid supplies replenishment as necessary
  • Exit / emergency light inspections
  • Purchase requisitions as necessary
  • Order supplies for THM projects
  • Other duties / responsibilities deemed necessary by Safety Coordinator / SQF Practioner
  • Comply with OSHA requirements, including documentation requirements
  • Comply with company recycling policy
  • Comply with all Plant Safety and Product Safety requirements

Physical

  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.

  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, via face to face or telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Example: Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.


D. Visual Activity Required


  • Machine operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical and administrative duties. Example: Preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, data entry, CRT exposure, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, using measurement devices or fabrications of parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Machine operation and skilled trades; use of lathes, drills, presses, power tools to see where a job is at or within, arms reach.
  • Mobile equipment operations; operate cars, trucks, buses, fork lifts, cranes and high lift equipment.
  • Other criteria based on accuracy and neatness of work. Example: Cleaning personnel, sweepers, janitors, cooks.
  • Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.


E. Work Environment Conditions


  • Inside and outside environments apply.
  • Subject to extreme cold; temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to extreme heat; temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
  • Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
