Staff Accountant Job at Power Distributors
Power Distributors, LLC is the Sales and Distribution arm for Briggs and Stratton, the leading manufacturer of air-cooled gasoline engines and parts for outdoor power equipment. Briggs and Stratton engines are incorporated into products for both the consumer market and industrial/commercial applications. We are also responsible for the sales and marketing of Briggs and Stratton Power consumer & commercial generators and pressure washers. Power Distributors also distributes Oregon Equipment Parts, Oregon Forestry products and several other allied parts lines.
The Staff Accountant will support the CFO, the Accounting Manager, and the FP&A Director in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting &Finance Department. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is located at our Columbus, OH office.
Duties
- Perform full cycle month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness, in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare journal entries in compliance with company standards and policies
- Suggest improvements to our documentation and processes; creating, editing, and improving SOPs
- Conduct detailed balance sheet account reconciliations
- Analyze departmental P&Ls for fluctuations comparing actuals, forecast, and budget
- Report and review monthly results to executive staff and department heads
- Manage fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and related records and reconciliations
- Actively support & resolve external audit requests including preparation of audit support and responding to auditor inquiries
- Perform other accounting duties as required or assigned
Qualifications/requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA/MBA candidate preferred
- 1-3 years of general ledger, GAAP experience
- Experience in NetSuite, and/or other ERP systems
- Microsoft Office experience including Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to prioritize, think strategically, and use analytical skills to support business objectives with limited to no supervision
- Effective at communicating with multiple levels of the organization
Physical Demands
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Typical working days are Monday – Friday during normal business hours
