The Staff Accountant is responsible for the financial management of Preservation Management, Inc. (PMI) and accounting for its portfolio of properties. The Staff Accountant develops and maintains financial models for working capital and cash flow planning. As part of our accounting team, this role ensures the adequacy of internal controls for the processing of cash receipts and disbursements and makes recommendations for improvements. As a member of the corporate accounting team, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the PMI books and other financial records, especially those related to cash, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, corporate credit cards, and other lines of credit.
Specific duties include:

  • Maintain the financial records of all assigned properties; prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Assist Regional Operations Managers, Assistant Operations Managers, and On-site Property Mangers in the preparation and implementation of annual operating budgets
  • Submit scheduled reports in a timely manner to PMI executives, managers, property owners, and investors regarding information about property income and expenses
  • Act as liaison with the development company to prepare and monitor expenses that relate to the loan documents for all PMI properties
  • Take action as needed for on-boarding of new entities and off boarding of dispositions
  • Supervises work of an Accounting Associate assigned to the same set of properties

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in a similar organization
  • Financial experience in private sector housing or property management desirable
  • Experience in the use of business computer systems and software such as Microsoft Office suite; experience with on-line database systems such as Boston Post Property Manager.
