The candidate will perform the overall objectives of the position with resource limitations of the assignment and can participate with the supervisor and/or client in developing deadlines and the extent of photographic coverage or resolution required. The candidate must have developed expertise in the field and will independently plan and carry-out all phases of the assignment. The candidate should resolve most differences that arise with clients, coordinate the work with others as necessary, and interpret policy on such matters as the photographing or presentation of given subjects. The candidate must acknowledge that their work will be reviewed only in terms of its effectiveness in meeting the objectives of the assignment. The candidate will independently perform assignments in accordance with the needs and requests of supported officials.
Position Functions:
- Use a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of specialized photographic equipment, techniques, and processes to develop, modify, or adapt equipment and procedures to meet new requirements or to perform assignments involving unusual or unprecedented situations that require photographic treatment.
- Use knowledge of the most recent advancements in the field of photography and of the range of new equipment, experimental materials, techniques, or processes to create photographic products or to evaluate possibilities for improvements, modifications, or replacements of existing equipment, materials, and techniques.
- Apply a thorough knowledge of the subject matter area including an understanding of the objectives and operations involved in scientific, engineering, or medical research projects to independently plan the photographic recording and reporting.
- In camera work, candidate will perform in a variety of still photography, performing the photography of the subjects to be photographed in specified, predetermined coverage using the established general format.
- Place emphasis is on taking clear photographs to document visual objects, images, or events, or to display certain features.
- Use discretion on the photographic composition generally limited to determining the position, background, lighting, angles, distance, and other aspects that will complement or enhance the subjects.
- Acknowledge that the assignments will require the use of different cameras, lenses, lens settings, filters, lighting equipment, and other accessories to produce images of acceptable quality.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, writers, and designers, in complex multifaceted media projects.
- Work with clients, medical staff, and professional co-workers to create video and digital generated photographs for publications, exhibits, multi-media presentations, and archival documentation.
- Deliver optimal productivity: prioritizing, planning, and maintaining projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
- Capture the essence of the moment and communicate highly significant results while positively interacting with Directors, VIPs, and special guests on a regularbasis.
Candidate Skill Level
- Proficient in many different types of professional photographic equipment and digital editing software and can demonstrate the ability to use the software or equipment.
- Proficiency and understanding of artificial and natural lighting and how it affects different settings, shapes, and skin tones.
- Strong eye for detail and a well-developed artistic and creative aesthetics for the subject at hand.
- Exceptional communication and people skills, with the ability to discuss complex artistic concepts in easy-to-understand terms.
Candidate additional job duty requirements:
- Up- to-date, thorough and broad knowledge of tools and equipment of the photographic/video industry to include video and digital still cameras, lighting equipment and techniques.
- Ability and experience in photographing a wide variety of assignments such as but not limited to studio, tabletop set ups, formal and environmental portraits.
- Organize and maintain all scheduled photographic/video projects assigned.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Photoshop CC, Microsoft Office, ScheduAll, file storage and other software.
- Provide reasonable turnaround on Tweets, emails, and phone.
- Learn and use software for entering Assignments, establishing Work Orders, and finalizing Billing.
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance/diagnostic measures that must be taken to maintain and troubleshoot cameras and other equipment.
- Knowledge of U.S. Department of State required specification for passports and visa photographs.
A candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Photography and Film or Graphic Design is preferred.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
