This position is responsible for ensuring engineered material handling and storage projects meet or exceed customers’ needs while adhering to industry standards and guidelines (i.e., RMI – Rack Manufacturers Institute). This candidate will assist Account Managers and their customers in project development utilizing tools (such as AutoCAD) and methods (such as warehouse planning and design, ergonomics analysis, and data field review) to develop effective and efficient solutions to material handling and storage needs.

Position responsibilities:

  • Partner with suppliers and Wolter, Inc. personnel to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated and creative material handling and storage solutions.
  • Design warehouse, storage and/or handling systems using AutoCAD.
  • Design storage and handling systems to include load calculation and structural analysis while maintaining structural design integrity.
  • Ensure project requirements are met and in compliance with customers’ objectives, while maintaining fiscal awareness.
  • Quote material and components by developing bills of materials based upon facility layouts and completed engineered drawings.
  • Complete site analysis, gather inventory data, review initial capacity requirements, and discuss project expectations with customers in the field.
  • Work with Account Managers regarding coordination of customer proposal presentation meetings and related communications.
  • Effectively communicate with Account Managers and their customers throughout all project phases, from inception to implementation, and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Perform projects as requested while always keeping safety paramount.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Project management skills and ability to organize and perform several tasks related to different phases of project development.
  • Strong computer proficiency – including AutoCAD (or similar), PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft packages.
  • Deep knowledge of the storage and handling products Wolter, Inc. represents.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for daily trips and occasional overnight trips to support project-oriented work (est. 20-25% travel requirements)
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Commitment to company vision and mission.
  • Awareness of lean business principles and familiarity with Six Sigma tools a plus
