GenCorr, a TRG company and subsidiary of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking a Structural Packing Designer to support our Alsip, IL facility. The Structural Packaging Designer position has responsibility for preparing new and revised corrugated packaging designs. The designer has a basic understanding of industry standard retail packaging styles, corrugated structures, industrial packaging, and POP displays. The position includes the development and production of plain to full artwork mockup samples for existing and prospective customers, as well as for production approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Design and develop new and revised packaging, while offering improvements for cost reduction, performance enhancements and innovations.
- Produce samples and small production runs of prototypes on the CAD table.
- Improve existing packaging with innovative solutions. This will include working hand in hand with the sales team and outside customers.
- Coordinate with die and material suppliers as needed.
- There is some travel to customer meetings but less than 10%.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- In-depth working knowledge of Artios CAD – 3D CAD, Adobe Illustrator, Cape or TOPPS and Microsoft Office.
- Experienced in operating CAD sample cutting tables.
- Possess the ability to work independently along with working in a team environment.
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of various paperboard stocks, board grade combinations, POP displays and printing processes.
- Reviews and edits structural and graphic elements to ensure that they meet customer requests.
- Bachelors' degree or higher in Packaging/Industrial design preferred, and/or 2-5 years’ experience as a structural designer.
- Graphic design skill sets a plus.
- Knowledge of box plant machinery and tooling a plus.
