Job Description
Position: Substance Abuse Counselor
Department: Counseling
Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
FSLA Status: Exempt
Age of Patient Population Served: Adolescents 12-17 years of age
Primary Purpose and Function
Substance abuse counselors conduct screening and assessments; provide individual and group counseling; facilitate relapse prevention and continuing care services; and provide follow-up and aftercare counseling and case management in an adolescent residential treatment setting. It is mandatory that counselors are registered or certified by a State of California Accredited Institution.
The schedule could require weekends/evenings. Prior experience working with clients in a substance abuse treatment program is required. Clinical Supervision towards licensure may be available for AMFT, APCC, and ACSW level clinicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Level I (CADC-II) or approaching Certification Exam
within 6 months of hire.
· 2 years’ experience working with dual diagnosed individuals preferred.
· ASAM Training Preferred.
· Knowledgeable and well versed in 12 Step Program, SMART Recovery and Refuge
Recovery modalities.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $37.00 per hour
